On Christmas Eve, we hosted a small family party at our house. It was so much fun to eat yummy food, play fun games and rip through tons of presents. It was a home full of kids, dogs, parents, aunts, grandparents and more. I thought I’d share with you some of the merry details I added throughout the house for the party. I took a whole bunch of photos, so get ready for a visual holiday extravaganza. From a custom designed Hot Cocoa Station to tiny jolly smiles hidden here and there. Let’s take a peek, shall we?
One of the fun things to greet our guests was the “Design Your Hot Cocoa” station. Complete with mini marshmallows, candy canes, sprinkles, cinnamon and even cayenne pepper.
I found these super long Merry Christmas gift tags at Target and created a banner strip on the fridge.
My rustic flea market ladder got dressed up for the occasion, too.
In the bathroom, a jar usually filled with cotton balls got upgraded to some iridescent mini Christmas bulbs.
Some bows in a jar and you have something whimsical to add to your ottoman tray.
Here’s a shot of the entire room. My little ikea rug under the tree makes it look like fresh snow is hugging it!
I have yet to figure out what I want to permanently do with this hallway alcove. It once housed an old door bell chime. But when I came across this vertical banner, I knew just where it would hang!
You may remember this little Hello Bouquet from this post. For the holidays, I decided to let you finish it for whatever is appropriate in your world. Baking sprinkles were added to prop the greeting.
I absolutely cherish these little salt and pepper shakers that were handed down to me from my mom. I think she may have had them in her antique shop at one point. Now they are mine and I love bringing them out every year.
I’ve had this Coco-Cola Santa ad for a couple decades now. I got him from an antique store while sifting through piles of vintage ads. A simple frame and I have a pretty cool and interesting holiday decoration.
It doesn’t get any easier than this. A vase you have laying around. Some Christmas bulbs. Done. A nice accent to my coffee table. Oh, and yes, the bulbs are from Target. A whole package of them for $1. I mean, come on! That’s a deal!
I’ve had this chalkboard sign sitting around and what better way to direct party goers than with a fun little message mapping it all out for them.
I gotta tell you, I was so proud of this little kitchen accent. Cookie cutters and some red ribbon I had on hand and my window was that much more merry. The little winter wonderland you see below them was featured in this post.
And that concludes our holiday decorating tour for 2013. I will be sharing some of the yummy treats I made in a future post. They were so much to make and were devoured quickly. Every baker likes that! I so want to see what all of you have done with your homes for the holidays. Did you a host a party, too? How did you deck the halls? Hope you’re having a wonderful holiday and have a very happy New Year! :) I look forward to your comments.
